KATIA is an app for sharing the running of a home between a family and their helper. That means we look after things that matter: your family's names, plans, photos and conversations. This page explains what we keep, what we use it for, who we share it with, and when it is deleted.

1. About this policy

This policy covers the KATIA app and this website, provided by MONCNE PTE. LTD. ("we"). We are a Singapore company, KATIA is offered in Singapore, and we handle personal data under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

2. What we collect

  • Your account: your name, email address, how you sign in (email, Google or Apple), display language, your avatar (an illustration the AI draws from a face photo; the photo is not kept) and, if you choose, your birthday.
  • Your household: the names and roles of family members and helpers, tasks, shopping lists, events, meals, pantry stock, house rules, and what KATIA has learned about your home. For children, this is what an adult enters: name, birthday, avatar, allergies and routines.
  • Conversations: your chats with KATIA, messages between household members, and a helper's answers to KATIA's regular check-ins.
  • Photos and documents: photos you take or send, PDFs, and files you share into the app from other apps. If you import a WhatsApp or LINE chat, KATIA reads only its last six months to suggest house rules, events and the like. The chat itself is not kept.
  • Voice: voice input is turned into text by your phone's own speech recognition (Apple's or Google's). We receive the text, never the audio.
  • Purchases: your plan, credit balance and purchase history. Payments are handled by the App Store and Google Play, so we never see your card details.
  • Device and feedback: an identifier to send you notifications, the app version, your time zone, and any feedback you send from the app with its screenshot.
  • Connection records: a record of each time the app talks to our servers (IP address, date and time and the like), kept for 30 days to look into problems and prevent abuse.
  • Usage records: when and how much you used KATIA's AI features, used to count costs and manage credits.

We do not track you for advertising or across other apps and websites. Neither the app nor this site contains advertising or behavioural analytics.

3. How we use it

  • To run KATIA: managing tasks and shopping, organising plans, translating, morning summaries and notifications.
  • To get information between family and helper in each person's own language.
  • To confirm purchases and apply your plan and credits.
  • To answer feedback and questions, fix problems and improve the service.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse and keep the service and its users safe.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

To look into problems and check quality, our staff may review conversations and records, only as far as needed.

We never sell your information, and we never use it for advertising.

4. AI processing by Google Gemini

KATIA's AI features are powered by Gemini through Vertex AI, Google Cloud's generative AI service, and by Google's image and video generation models. In these cases the content, together with the household information needed (family names, plans, house rules and so on), is sent to Google for processing:

  • When you talk to KATIA, send it a photo or document, or import a chat.
  • When messages between family members and the helper are translated, and when KATIA helps inside those conversations. A photo sent in a message is described by the AI.
  • When KATIA prepares things on its own: morning and evening summaries, the day's review, records of family moments and the like.
  • When an avatar is made: the face photo, children's included, is sent and the AI draws an illustrated avatar from it. The photo is only read on the spot and never stored; the app shows only the illustration.
  • When pictures of items or house rules, or memory pictures and videos, are made. For house-rule pictures and memory pictures and videos, family members' avatars (illustrations) are sent as references.

How what is sent is handled:

  • Google processes it on our behalf. Under Google Cloud's terms, content sent to Vertex AI is not used to train Google's models without our permission.
  • When KATIA looks something up on the web, the search words are sent to Google Search, which keeps them for up to 3 days in a form not linked to you.
  • Google may keep what is sent for up to 90 days to monitor for abuse. It is used only to check for abuse, never to train AI.
  • Pictures of everyday items that identify no one, such as milk or tomatoes, may be reused for other households. An image made from your photos is never shown to another household.
  • Before any information is sent to the AI, the app shows you what is sent and where, and asks for your consent. KATIA is built around AI, so without that consent it cannot be used.

For the details of how Google handles it, see Google Cloud's own description. Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and zero data retention

AI can be wrong. Always check anything to do with allergies, health or money yourself.

5. Sharing within your household

  • Records put into a household (tasks, events, shopping, meals, house rules) can be seen by everyone in it. An adult (the employer) can change or delete any record. A helper can change or delete only the records she made herself (and can mark a task assigned to her as done).
  • The employer decides which kinds of record a helper may create (tasks, shopping, events, meals).
  • Your conversations with KATIA can be seen only by you. A helper's conversations are not used by KATIA for household summaries or house-rule suggestions either. The exception is the helper's answers to KATIA's regular check-ins, which reach the employer; the helper is told this before answering.
  • What KATIA learns from an adult's conversations (plans, suggested house rules and the like) may become a household record that others in the household can see.
  • Photos and documents sent to KATIA become the household's, whoever sent them, and the household's adults (the employers) may see them through KATIA.
  • Your standing requests to KATIA can be seen only by you. Feedback sent to us can be seen by the household's adults (the employers); a conversation with KATIA attached to it can be seen only by you and by us.
  • Messages between family members and the helper can be seen only by the people in that conversation.

When you enter someone else's information, such as a child's or a helper's, make sure you have their agreement or the standing to do so, for example as a parent.

6. Sharing outside MONCNE

These companies process information for us to run the service, and only as we instruct:

Google (Google Cloud, Firebase)Data storage, sign-in, file storage, servers, notifications, AI (Gemini, and the models that make images and video)
A purchase-verification providerConfirming purchases and managing plans
An AI service provider (other than Google)Development, and looking into problems and quality
An app-update delivery providerDelivering small app updates
Apple, Google PlayApp distribution and payment

Beyond this, we share information only when the law requires it, when needed to protect someone's life or safety, or if the business is transferred (and we require the new owner to protect it as this policy does).

7. Where it is stored

Your information is stored mainly in Google's data centres in Singapore. Sign-in, notification delivery, AI processing and purchase checks may be handled by the companies we work with (section 6) in countries outside Singapore. Where they are, the information is protected under our contracts with those companies, to the standard Singapore's PDPA requires.

8. How long we keep it, and deletion

KATIA treats information as one of two kinds: yours, and the household's. There is one test: what others in the household can see is the household's; what only you can see is yours.

  • Yours: your profile (name, birthday, language, avatar), your sign-in, what only you can see (your conversations with KATIA, your notifications, your morning and evening summaries, KATIA's cards to you alone, your requests to KATIA). It is deleted only when you delete your account, and then straight away (except that when a household is deleted, your avatar and requests to KATIA kept in that household go with it). Only you can delete your account.
  • The household's: everything else (tasks, events, shopping, meals, house rules, messages between the family and the helper, photos and documents sent to KATIA, household notes, memories, feedback sent to us with its screenshots, the plan and credits). It is deleted only when the household is deleted, which only its admin (at first, the person who created it) can do. Members keep their accounts.
  • Leaving a household, or being removed from one, deletes nothing. What is yours stays with you; what is the household's stays with the household. Your conversations with KATIA in a household you have left are not shown unless you return to it.
  • After you leave a household or delete your account, the household's records stay with it, and your name shows as "Former member".
  • Files such as photos stay in a recovery area for up to 7 days after deletion and are then gone for good.
  • The instructions sent to the AI to make a picture or video are kept for 30 days so that problems can be looked into, and are then deleted automatically.
  • Payment records are kept by the App Store and Google Play.
  • The purchase records on our side and the records of AI usage (who used how much) are kept for 2 years after you delete your account, to check for fraud and refunds, and are then deleted automatically (the usage records then keep only the cost totals, no longer linked to you). The text of your exchanges with the AI goes with your account.
  • Connection records (IP addresses and the like) are deleted automatically after 30 days.
  • Where the law requires us to keep something, or while an abuse investigation is open, we may hold off deleting it, only as far as needed.

How to do each kind of deletion, and what each one deletes, is explained on the "Delete your account" page.

9. Age, and children's information

You must be 18 or over to create an account. Children do not have accounts; a parent adds them to the household with their name, plans and so on. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we delete it.

10. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy
  • correct information that is wrong
  • withdraw your consent to AI processing (KATIA can then no longer be used, so we also explain how to delete your account)
  • delete your information and your account

Most of this can be done in the app's settings. For anything else, write to support@moncne.ai. Once we have confirmed it is you, we will reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle your request, you can complain to Singapore's Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC).

11. Keeping it safe

All connections are encrypted. Information can be read only by people in the same household and by the parts of the system and the staff that need it. Every action checks that you are signed in, and each household has limits on how much it can use. No system on the internet is perfectly secure, though. If an incident ever puts your information at risk, we will tell the people affected and the authorities as the law requires.

12. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we will post the new version here with its date. For significant changes, we will also tell you in the app.
